Tyranena – Benji’s Smoked Imperial Porter brewed with chipotle pepper – 4.9 out of 7

I like this beer. I don’t like the word ballsy on the label, which is their way of describing the entire Brewer’s Gone Wild series of beers. Beer culture does have an irreverent angle to it, but I’d like that to change (and I’m not alone), also, it hurts sales. We’re better than low brow humorists when we’re sober, and Tyranena’s beers are good enough to speak for themselves. This beer has a musty smell off the top. I can smell the porter in it. I can smell the peppers in it. Not so much Imperial though. This tingles the back of my throat. Tyranena makes good beer with a distinctly Wisconsin flavor in it, which I can’t describe. It’s good. Overall tasty smoky factor = 4.9 out of 7.
