Jester King – Gotlandsdricka smoked farmhouse ale – 5.5 out of 7

Gotlandstricka “Drink of the Land of Goths” or “Drink of the Good Lands” presents a beer inspired by the beer that the Vikings may have had. This beer is different, and good. Smoke smell wafts out upon opening the bottle and smoke taste greets your pallet up front as well. The tart flavor was a pleasant farmhouse surprise (not too surprising for farmhouse ales, but surprising due to the smokepower leading you off the trail a bit). This beer is dry, highly carbonated, but controlled. Gotslandsdricka is just a good, unique, squarely identified, smoked farmhouse ale with a touch of silt down in the bottle, so watch your pour. Overall score – a respectable 5.5 out of 7.
