Braustelle – Freigeist Ehrenfelder – 4 out of 7 (not a smokebeer)

20170201_221419.jpg

Here’s the first installment of a 5 part series where Freigeist beers are reviewed. And this beer, Ehrenfeider, an unfiltered altbier, is oddly enough tagged in the not a smokebeer category. Why review it? Well, the description on the label states “with a hint of smokiness,” which is how these things get started, and I bought, drank, and took a picture of the damn thing, so I’m fucking doing it.

Ehrenfeider is slightly malty on the nose and palate. The words “another nice German beer” come to mind as the taste lingers, urging me to savor it in a Norm! kind of way. Maybe I’ve had too much to drink tonight. Drinking not only effects the tongue, but also the pen. End review. Final score 4 out of 7.
