Pipeworks – Chipotle Smoked Porter – 5.5 out of 7

20170402_184645

If there ever was a chance for a Pipeworks success, this was it. After delivering 3 consecutive shelf turds, Pipeworks finally stumbles across a working recipe. And my state of mind was primed to like just about anything after 10 hours of digging in my backyard. No breaks, not even a lunch, just out there digging, trying to beat the rain, which never came. So after the sun set, to relax, I came in and got out this beer. It smelled of smoke as soon as I opened it. Along with nice malty smoked porter smells, chipotle notes wafted around in this dark and thin beer. Not much head rose to the top, which doesn’t bother me a bit, and not much sediment in the bottom which the back label had warned me about (I find that polite). This is a good chili spicy porter, but not too spicy. I’m not about to dump a gallon of milk over my face, not even close, but this is the hottest beer I’ve ever had. I’m glad I finally got a good beer from this company, I was preparing to banish them from the Ministry. I even added a heat metric on the chart. Now, if they could only make this beer twice… Overall smokestack metric = 5.5 smokestacks (out of 7). And one more thing, Happy Birthday Owen.
