Pipeworks – Smoke Break Abduction – 5.5 smokestacks

20170606_211622

Pipeworks Brewing Company whipped up a smoked imperial stout brewed with cherrywood, beechwood, and oak smoked malts and named it Smoke Break Abduction. This beer pours like Hershey’s syrup releasing few notes of smoke. So few that the smoke may be missed entirely by some. The taste is sweet, rich, boozy (10.5%), and a tiny bit dry and musty. It’s a very imperial beer with touch of luxury and a chest warming finish. I like this beer, but I must admit that the bar is fairly low for Pipeworks… Let me acknowledge that they have exceeded my expectations. And for a beer where the booziness really takes the flavor reins, this beer delivers a pretty good time. Feel free to pour this into a big ole cup and take a few giganto swallers to start it off right, then try to savor whats left in your glass… don’t worry about what’s on TV. Overall smokestack metric = 5.5 smokestacks (out of 7).
