Sam Adams – Smoked Lager – 4.5 smokestacks (out of 7)

I had to buy a whole 12 pack again just to get this one beer. Although not convenient, this won’t stop me from drinking the 5 other kinds from this variety pack. This smoked lager beer (lager = bottom fermenting) has a beech-wood smoky edge that you won’t miss, in fact, it is such a sharp edge that one can recognize the very wood used in the smoking process even before noticing that it was printed on the label, as I did. Sam Adam’s Smoked Lager also has a touch of sweetness to it, but not quite enough of much else to take it from good to great (still trying to give my career a boost). This good beer also has a touch of minor bitter beer taste in there, rounding it out to what can be described by tired people as “good.” Sam gets just over the hump with 4.5 smokestacks.
